I introduced this variety in the mid 1990s into my Vermont Bean Seed Company catalog, and it remained a best seller until I sold the company in 1999. The classic French Charentais type, with small, 2-pound fruits that are slightly ribbed, with a gray green rind and dark green sutures. Deep orange flesh is sweet and aromatic, with a unique, almost flowery scent that cannot be found in American-bred melons. The perfect breakfast-for-two melon is also the variety most frequently served with prosciutto ham in Europe. Good tolerance to fusarium and powdery mildew.
